Dallas trial lawyers recognized for taking on complex business disputes and the people who create them
DALLAS – Johnston Tobey Baruch shareholders Randy Johnston and Robert Tobey have for the sixth consecutive year earned slots on the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers guide.
Lawdragon publishes annual guides for dozens of practice areas and in 2019 revived the Plaintiff Financial Lawyers list to reflect what the company describes as the “astonishing” growth of big businesses and, unfortunately, their penchant to leave investors, companies and consumers feeling “duped and hornswoggled.”
That willingness to fight for those who have had their rights trampled upon reflects the mission of Mr. Johnston, who was recognized in the 2026 edition of for his work in business litigation and legal malpractice, and Mr. Tobey, who was cited for his success in resolving complex commercial litigation.
“As the business world becomes more complex, business structures evolve, too,” said managing shareholder Chad Baruch. “That creates opportunities for corporate wrongdoing, and our office takes pride in standing up for those have been wronged.”
Both Mr. Johnston and Mr. Tobey are familiar names on elite legal guides by Lawdragon, Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas. Earlier this year, the firm was also singled out for its work in professional liability and appellate work by the 2026 Chambers Texas Spotlight legal guide.
“’Duped and hornswoggled’ is a good description for what some corporate offenders have attempted to do to our clients,” said Mr. Johnston. “We are happy to do what we can to get them to toe the line and be good corporate citizens.”
