Dallas attorney Chad Baruch wins legal excellence award from Texas Bar Foundation

Chad Baruch, a well-known Dallas appellate lawyer, is the 2016 recipient of the legal excellence award from the Texas Bar Foundation for his extraordinary commitment to the legal profession.

The Texas Bar Foundation honors one attorney each year with the Dan Rugueley Price Memorial Award for exhibiting an unreserved commitment to clients and the practice of law, dedication to the Bar and public service, and exceptional ability at legal writing and research.

These are the qualities shown by Austin attorney Dan Price, who died in 1994. Each year the recipient of this honor names a Texas law school to receive a $1,000 cash award for a law student scholarship.

Baruch, a shareholder at the Dallas business litigation and appellate law firm of Johnston Tobey Baruch, focuses his practice on constitutional and appellate law matters, with a heavy emphasis on civil, criminal and family law appeals. He is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

He is an award-winning speaker on appellate advocacy and legal writing, and has served on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas as well as the State Bar College. Baruch has spoken on appellate writing at the Texas College for Judicial Studies, the National Summit of Appellate Judges Education Institute, the Annual Conference of Texas Appellate Staff Attorneys, and at a host of legal seminars.

In recognition of his commitment to justice for all Texans, the Texas Access to Justice Commission named him a Pro Bono Champion. He is a recognized constitutional scholar and legal writing expert and actively plans and participates in continuing legal education activities. In 2015, he won the State Bar of Texas Gene Cavin Award for lifetime contributions to continuing legal education in the state.

“No attorney in the state does more than Chad to maintain high standards in the legal profession,” says Randy Johnston, managing shareholder of Johnston Tobey Baruch.

Baruch will receive the Dan Price Award this June at the annual meeting of the Texas Bar Foundation.
